Hey this is Paul (c/o 2011). As you may know, the USA Eagles are playing Scotland in Houston this summer. Below is a link for ticket deals:
http://www.voicedailydeals.
This will be the third year in a row that a top tier european RFC will be visiting to play the Eagles in Houston. Each year, the game has been the largest crowd at a rugby event ever in USA history.
I have been the last 2 years and the games have been a blast.
One thing that I noticed, however, when walking around the parking lots leading up to the game is that a lot of old boys were tailgating together with their clubs. I am talking about some of our biggest competitors: SMU, Texas State, Sam Houston, UT, SFA.
This got me thinking, wouldn’t it be great if we could have an official GRAA tailgate for the game? Get as many of the old boys and current players down for the match. Last year there was a competition for best tailgating crew that got brought out to the middle of the stadium at half time and given an award.
Just spitballin’ here, but I think it would be a great time to get together (other than the Alumni game), we would get to watch some world class rugby in a great stadium.
I live in Houston and would love to help out if at all possible.
Thanks,
Paul
